Janmashtami is another favorite one-day festival celebrated by every devotee of Lord Krishna. Lord Shri Krishna was born on Ashtami Tithi in the Bhadrapada month of the Hindu calendar. On this day devotees of Lord Shri Krishna fast for the whole day till the Pooja and then consume food after the completion of Pooja.
Some devotees prepare an idol of Lord Krishna from clay while some keep their main idol for the Pooja. A small jhula is prepared and the idol of lord Krishna is kept in it. The jhula is decorated with flowers and other decorations. Then a pandit performs a Pooja in which naamkaran of lord Krishna is done. After that Aarti of lord Krishna is performed. Devotees chant the name of lord Krishna and also sing songs for them.
