Bharani shradha or Maha bharani shradha is a ritual performed in pitru paksha as soon as bharani Nakshatra starts in Ashwin month of Hindu calendar. During the pitru paksha bharani shradha can be performed on tithi of Chathurthi or Panchami.

Bharani Shradha also known as Maha bharani shradha is a ritual performed for the deceased person in the family. If the deceased person didn’t visited any pilgrimage during their lifetim then it is better to perform this ritual for their shanti. In Bharani Nakshatra during the Ashwin month this ritual can be performed while considering the tithi of Panchami or Chathurthi. Bharani Nakshatra has significance of Yama the god of death. Performing this ritual on this occasion is beneficial for the deceased soul. This ritual is performed by the son of the deceased person with the help of a pandit.
